5 Easy Ways To Speed Up Windows

Whenever our computer starts to run a little sluggish or doesn't seem to quite run up to par we tend to think its our processors fault, we don't have enough memory, or our hard drive just can't keep up. Oftentimes though, there are several settings in windows that we change over time that can cause our PC to start acting sluggish. Here are 5 easy ways to help you speed up windows.

1.) Disable Windows index Servicing Feature - Windows Indexing Service is a small program that uses alot of your systems memory! It makes your searches done on your computer faster when looking for a file or folder. Though this feature may be useful, the resources it takes up on your PC doesn't make this feature worth it compared to the time it saves when performing a search. To remove this feature simply Click on Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs. Then click on Add/Remove Windows Components and uncheck the "indexing services" box.

2.) Remove That Awful Desktop Wallpaper! - Desktop Wallpapers can also take up alot of memory on your computer, especially if your using a high-res graphic. By Removing or using a Graphic with a very low resolution you can help speed up your PC.

3.) Get Rid of Extra Fonts - Having a ton of fonts in your windows fonts folder also can take up alot of memory and by slowly adding more and more fonts to your directory as you own your computer can really take a toll on your PC. While having alot of fonts is nice, its not feasible. So simply open up your fonts folder and delete the unneeded buggers. You can also move fonts that you think you may use/need at a later time to a different folder on your computer to save them.

4.) Disable Performance Monitoring Programs. - Windows often has programs that are running in the background of your system even if you´re not actually using them or need them. Disabling these programs will speed up Windows and free up some of your RAM.

5.) Go minimalist to speed up your PC. - Its nice to have a fancy and attractive interface, but you pay for this with the cost of a sluggish computer. Consider turning off these options to help speed up your Windows PC.

Click on the "system" icon in the control panel, and then click on the advanced tab. In the performance box, click on "settings" and uncheck all the items EXCEPT for the following items:

  • Show shadows under menus.

  • Show shadows under mouse pointer.

  • Show translucent selection rectangle.

  • Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop.

  • Use visual styles on windows and buttons.

6.) RUN A REGISTRY CLEANER. - This may be the single most important thing you do to help you speed up your computer and also at the same time fix 99% of computer problems. We highly Recommend RegCure as we have had alot of success with them on all of our machines.
